sQdth One
SqdthOne is a custom theme for Obsidian, a markdown note taking environment. I created SqdthOne as a way to get more comfortable with Obsidian as software, and as a design exercise. The theme is entirely CSS and was developed with assistance from developer tools within Obsidian. These tools help detect, identify, and alter HTML elements, making it easier to modify them in CSS.
My design philosophy for SqdthOne is to provide visuals with impact. I believe that my Obsidian theme should enhance the note taking experience with great impact, without distracting or inhibiting the user. To this end, I have provided theme variations that offer different color palettes while maintaining consistent styling.
Each variant has a light and a dark mode. The default variant offers a colorful, terminal adjacent experience with high contrast between backgrounds, text, and separators/decorators. The solar variations are designed to provide a better reading experience in outdoor environments. The colorless variations are designed for printing and publishing media, but make for great OLED variants as well. All theme settings can be found by using the Style Settings plugin.
